Last time I heard a gale like the Edinburgh one, 2nd January 2012, was the Connecticut hurricane Sept/Oct 1984. Then the Canadians had to come down across the border to help saw up the trees that had fallen and the train ran through Windsor at walking pace honking the whiles.
